The State’s COVID-19 website reported that yesterday’s results for 87,763 tests Statewide were 6,015 or 7.1% positive, with the seven-day average increasing to 6.8%.  The Capital Region had 3,564 tests of which 429 or 12.6% were positive, with the seven-day average increasing to 11.0%.  The County had 891 tests of which 129 or 13.6% were positive, with the seven-day average increasing to 11.8%.

The CDC’s Community Level reported that Albany County now has a “high” community level based on hospital beds being used, hospital admissions, and the total number of new COVID-19 cases in an area.  At the “high” level, the CDC recommends:

Wear a mask indoors in public and on public transportation.  Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines.  Get tested if you have symptoms.  If you are at high risk for severe illness, consider taking additional precautions.

As of Thursday, there are 39 (1.21%) counties, districts, or territories with a high COVID-19 Community Level, 231 (7.17%) counties with a medium Community Level, and 2,954 (91.63%) counties with a low Community Level.  The CDC updates the community level on Thursday evenings.

The Town COVID-19 response team is monitoring local conditions for possible changes in Town operations, including a return to virtual public meetings. Given the current level of infection, it is strongly recommended that facemasks should be worn in indoor public settings regardless of vaccination status.

Staff from the offices of State Senator Michelle Hinchey and Assemblyperson Pat Fahy are offering mobile and in-person appointments for residents who may need help with State services and issues including unemployment benefits, EZPass & DMV issues, utilities, heating assistances, and health food resources.  You can sign-up for an online or in-person appointment to be held on Monday, April 25 from 5pm to 8pm.  The Senator’s office in Guilderland is located at 2592 Western Avenue.
