Homicide Investigation - SMPD22-0004249 
Today at about 1020 Hrs. officers were dispatched to a person suffering from gunshot wounds in the area of Main St. and Hanson Way. When officers arrived they found the sole occupant of a vehicle parked on the side of the road had been shot and was dead. The victim was a adult male, 61 years old, of Santa Maria. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The early investigation determined the shooting had occurred hours before and several parties had heard the gunshots but no one had called to report the shooting. This is the third homicide this year in the City of Santa Maria.
