Alert

Lock your cars, Lock your homes, Report suspicious activity

Over the weekend Monmouth County has again seen an uptick in attempted and successful motor vehicle thefts. These criminals are mostly targeting high end vehicles such as Range Rovers, BMW, Mercedes Benz, along with others.

These criminals have become more brazen and have begun to enter homes through unlocked entrances in search for motor vehicle keys.  This has become an extremely dangerous situation and we need the public’s help in stopping these crimes.

We have been telling everyone for a long time to ensure you are locking your cars and taking any valuables with you. Now we must remind everyone to ensure you are locking your homes as well.  Sometimes we can become complacent and forget this simple task; however, we must work together and ensure we are taking all necessary steps to keep our families safe.

Patrols have been increased and we want to ensure our residents and visitors are informed about all criminal activity occurring in our service area and surrounding jurisdictions. Please be on the look out for any suspicious activity. These criminals are often operating already stolen high end vehicles, potentially armed, and have no regard for anyones saftey while committing these crimes.

Once again please LOCK your cars and LOCK your homes and report any suspicious activity to the police right away. Together we can help prevent these crimes and remove the opportunity for these crimes to be committed. Stay safe!
