 The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

Vehicle Tampering – Jordan Avenue at Tulare Avenue:
At 7:06 pm an officer responded to the report of an interrupted catalytic converter theft.  The witness was driving on the street when they saw someone come out from under a car with a saw in their hand, get into a waiting vehicle, and flee the area.  The catalytic converter had been cut but was still attached to the vehicle.

Vandalism and resisting arrest – San Pablo Avenue at Ohio Avenue:  At 3:13 am officers were dispatched for the report that the truck driver that was collecting the clothing from the donation bin had been approached by a subject asking if he could have some of the clothing.  The victim asked the subject to leave him alone.  The suspect became angry and started walking towards the victim as if he was going to fight him.  The victim pepper sprayed the suspect and then got into the cab of the truck and called 911.  The suspect picked up rocks and threw it at the truck’s windshield shattering it.  As the officers were arriving the suspect took off running and was apprehended by the pursuing officers.   He was booked at ECPD, then released with a citation.

Arson – San Pablo Avenue at Ohio Avenue:
At 1:45 am while an officer was patrolling the area they found the clothing donation bin on fire.  The Richmond Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.
