Shooting suspect arrested after fleeing horrible crash on foot.
At 2:41 PM Officers were sent to a shooting that had just occurred at the intersection of Alvin Ave. and Railroad Ave. The reporting party said he and his young son were stopped at the intersection when a car pulled alongside of his and an occupant of the other vehicle starting shooting at him. The suspect vehicle immediately fled E/B on Alvin Ave. and crashed about two blocks away near the intersection of Curryer St. and Alvin Ave. Two female occupants of the car were contacted and eventually arrested for various misdemeanor charges while the lone male occupant later identified as Junior Freddy Martinez fled into the residential neighborhood. Officers began checking the area with the assistance of the helicopter from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office. After a few hours residents noticed a suspicious individual in their backyards and called for assistance. Officers were able to take Martinez into custody without incident. The firearm believed to have been used by Martinez was recovered during the investigation.
Martinez is being booked at the Santa Barbara County North Jail for attempted murder, weapons violations, and charges related to his probation status.
