On Wednesday April 27, 2022, at 01:23 AM, APD officers were dispatched to a single vehicle crash in the 3400 block of north Grand Street. A Chevrolet pickup had been northbound on Grand Street, failed to negotiate the curve, and rolled. The driver and sole occupant, 17-year-old male Alex Tomas, died at the scene. Speed is a factor in the crash. This incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Unit of the Amarillo Police Department.
