Coronavirus (COVID-19) Seven Hundred, Eighty-Fourth Update, Saturday, April 30, 2022
Albany County’s COVID-19 dashboard reported that there were 216 new positive cases overnight in the County, which raised the County’s COVID-19 cumulative pandemic total to 66,746 positive cases. The number of County residents in the hospital due to COVID-19 symptoms increased by 14 to now 42 patients, with two patients in the ICU. The County’s pandemic death toll remained at 551.
State DOH reported that the County’s rate for one vaccine dose as of yesterday was 81.7% of the County’s total population and 89.9% of the adult population, and the County’s rate for full-vaccination was 74.2% of the total population, and for boosters was 71.4% of the eligible population. The State’s rate for one dose was 90.1% for the total population and 95.0% of adults, and the State’s rate for full-vaccination was 76.9% for the total population, and for boosters was 55.5% of the eligible population.
The State’s COVID-19 website reported that yesterday’s results for 114,246 tests Statewide were 8,169 or 7.1% positive, with the seven-day average increasing to 6.8%. The Capital Region had 5,248 tests of which 521 or 10.6% were positive, with the seven-day average decreasing to 11.0%. The County had 1,272 tests of which 148 or 11.8% were positive, with the seven-day average decreasing to 11.2%.
State DOH also reported that the State’s positive rate for tests yesterday (6.33%), hospitalizations (1,868, 0), new COVID-19 hospital admissions (346), ICU patients (199, +3), intubations (68, +2), and deaths (11).
The CDC is reporting that, during the more than two-year pandemic, 57.7% of all Americans have had a least one COVID-19 infection, including 75.2% of children 11 years and younger, 74.2% for children between 12 and 17 years, 63.7% of persons between 18 and 49 years, 49.8% of persons 50 to 64 years, and 33.2% of persons 65 years and older. This growing immunity, coupled with vaccinations, is leading experts to conclude that, while infection rates are markedly increasing, hospitalizations are thankfully lagging for now.
I hope that you are having an enjoyable and relaxing weekend.
Thank you for staying safe and calm.
