CRIME/CHARGES:
NARRATIVE:
On Sunday, May 1, 2022; Pomona Police Department Dispatch received a call from a citizen who reported a male subject displaying a handgun while at Tony Cerda Park (400 W. Grand Ave.). A Patrol Officer assigned to swing shift (E Squad) was in the area at the time of call. The Officer saw a subject who matched the description of the armed male. The male was with a group of individuals who appeared to be local gang members. The group, including the male that was said to be armed, entered a car and left the area. The Officer followed the car and requested backup to conduct an investigative traffic stop. A traffic stop took place in the area of Gibbs St. and Grand Ave. Immediately, Officers recognized several of the occupants to, in fact, be active gang members from the city of Pomona. Rudy Woo was one of the occupants within the car and was the one who matched the description of the armed man at the park. Woo was contacted with a loaded handgun concealed in his pocket. Woo, was also in possession of a significant amount suspected methamphetamine. As a result Woo was arrested for possessing the illegal items. Gustavo Maldonado was also contacted as an occupant in the car. Maldonado had a No Bail warrant out for his arrest. Maldonado was also taken into-custody.
Woo and Maldonado have an extensive arrest history and are active gang members from Pomona. Woo is currently out on bail for a case with similar circumstances.

Repeat Offender Arrested For Possessing Firearm And Illegal Drugs

CRIME/CHARGES:
- 11370.1 (a) H&S – Possession of a Controlled Substance with a Firearm
- 11378 H&S – Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sales (Methamphetamine)
- 11379 H&S – Transport a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute
- 29800 (a)(1) PC – Felon in Possession of a Firearm
- 30305 (a)(1) PC – Felon in Possession of Ammunition
