At approximately 5:00 p.m., Monday, May 2, 2022, Sheriff's Office deputies and personnel from the Lady's Island- St. Helena Fire District responded to a house fire on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. on St. Helena Island. 

As no one was inside the home at the time of the fire, there were no injuries. The cause of the fire is not yet known. 

While personnel work to extinguish the fire, the road near 31 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. is blocked.  

We are asking for motorists and residents to temporarily avoid the area.
