On May 3, 2022, the Simi Valley Police Department responded to a report of an attempted child abduction at Harley’s Valley Bowl, 5255 E. Cochran St.
A 15-year-old juvenile student reported that as she walked across the parking lot she was approached by an older, white male subject. The student indicated the male subject grabbed her arm and attempted to pull her towards him and his vehicle. The student said she was able to elbow the subject and run back to the high school, where she contacted school staff.
Patrol Officers responded to the location and conducted a preliminary investigation. During the investigation, Officers located surveillance footage in the area where the alleged child abduction occurred. Officers located a subject on video, who matched the student’s verbal description. The video did not show the subject having contact with the student. Officers showed the student a photo of the subject located in the video and she said the subject was the person who tried to abduct her. The Simi Valley Police Department sent out a Nixle containing photos of the subject and his vehicle. In the Nixle, we asked for the public’s assistance in identifying the person and vehicle in the photos.
Simi Valley Police Department Detectives took over the investigation and ultimately spoke separately to the person from the video and the student. As a result of the Detective follow-up, it was determined that the abduction allegation was unfounded.
The reporting party in this case is a 15-year-old female juvenile. No additional information on this case can be released due to privacy issues.
