The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito May 6th to May 8th, 2022.

 The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

May 6th

Grand Theft – 6700 block of Gladys Ave. 
An officer reports that an unknown suspect stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s vehicle sometime overnight. 

Battery – Denny’s, 11344 San Pablo Ave. 
An officer reports that an unknown suspect kicked the manager in the leg after he was denied access to the restroom.  This same subject was responsible for creating a commotion in another business earlier in the morning. 

Shoplifting – Sketcher’s, 5805 Cutting Blvd. 
An officer reports that two unknown suspects entered the business, selected 5 pairs of shoes, and exited without paying. 

Vehicle Theft – 1800 block of Liberty St. 
An officer reports that an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 1995 Honda Accord sometime between 1:30 pm and 5:30 pm. 

May 7th

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Avenue at Central Avenue;
At 4:52 am officers were dispatched to a subject hitting cars with an object.  A subject matching the description was detained and found to have a no cite warrant for his arrest for Arson issued by Alameda County.  The subject was arrested, booked at ECPD, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

May 8th

Shoplifting – 11565 San Pablo Ave. 
An officer reports the arrest of a 49-year-old Oakland man after he stole several bottles of shampoo.  The man was cited and released. 
 
Commercial Burglary – 11687 San Pablo Avenue (Valero);
At 6:53 pm officers were dispatched to the report that a subject had just entered the store, pulled the lottery ticket display rack from the counter containing approximately $20k in lottery tickets, and ran to a waiting vehicle outside, got inside and fled the scene.
