OPD Investigates Two Dozen Robberies Since Friday
This past weekend, the Oakland Police Department (OPD) saw a spike in armed robberies. On Friday, there were seven robberies and two carjackings citywide in Oakland. The next day the city experienced nine additional robberies, one attempted robbery, and a carjacking. On Sunday, there were four robberies, one carjacking, and one attempted carjacking. In most of the crimes, individuals were armed with either a knife or a firearm.
Thanks to leads provided by community members, OPD patrol officers were able to quickly locate the vehicle linked to a number of the robberies. Officers took three individuals into custody in connection to at least seven of the cases.

- Be a good witness and pay attention to the description of the individual or vehicle.
OPD’S COMMITMENT:
- OPD Commanders are deploying more officers in the parts of Oakland where we are seeing an increase in armed robberies.
- OPD’s Violent Crime Operations Center (VCOC) and Patrol Division are using intelligence-led policing to identify and arrest those responsible.
