Supervisor Barber's Coronavirus (COVID-19) Seven Hundred, Ninety-Third Update (Monday, May 9, 2022)

Albany County’s COVID-19 dashboard reported today that there were 129 new positive cases overnight in the County, which raised the County’s COVID-19 cumulative pandemic total to 68,598 positive cases.  The County’s seven-day average of new daily positive cases decreased from 215.6 to 204.2 cases.  The number of County residents in the hospital overnight due to COVID-19 symptoms decreased by two to 51 patients, with two patients in the ICU.  The County’s pandemic death toll remained at 553.    
 

State DOH reported that the County’s rate for one vaccine dose as of yesterday was 81.8% of the County’s total population and 91.1% of the adult population, and the County’s rate for full-vaccination was 74.3% of the total population, and for boosters was 72.7% of the eligible population.  The State’s rate for one dose was 90.3% for the total population and 95.0% of adults, and the State’s rate for full-vaccination was 77.0% for the total population, and for boosters was 55.5% of the eligible population.
 
The State’s COVID-19 website reported that yesterday’s results for 79,763 tests Statewide were 5,989 or 6.9% positive, with the seven-day average remaining at 7.2%.  The Capital Region had 3,294 tests of which 388 or 11.6% were positive, with the seven-day average increasing to 11.9%.  The County had 879 tests of which 112 or 13.5% were positive, with the seven-day average increasing to 12.2%.
 
Governor Kathy Hochul, who announced yesterday that she had tested positive for COVID-19, reported today the State’s positive rate for tests yesterday (7.94%), hospitalizations (2,235, +71), new COVID-19 hospital admissions (320), ICU patients (195, -2), intubations (89, +8), and deaths (18).
 
For the month of April, the Town’s EMS ambulances made five transports of residents with COVID-19 to area hospitals, including three from senior care facilities, and one each from a single-family residence and a physician’s office.  Four of the five transports were in the second half of the month.  There have been two transports in the first week of May.  In March and February, there were three transports, both marked decreases from 10 transports in January and nine in December.  The total COVID-19 pandemic transports by EMS ambulances to area hospitals is now at 330 residents.
