Four arrested during recent DUI Checkpoint
On the evening of April 29th, the Berkeley Police Department conducted a DUI/CDL checkpoint on San Pablo Avenue near Cedar Street between 9 pm and 1:30 am.
Joining in the effort were officers from the Albany PD, Piedmont PD, UC Berkeley PD, and volunteers from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
The checkpoint got underway shortly before 9 pm, and was operational until about 1:30 am. During this period, 777 drivers were contacted. Of those contacted:
- 32 field sobriety tests were conducted, 4 drivers were arrested for DUI
- 5 drivers were cited for having a suspended license
- 4 drivers were cited for being unlicensed
- 3 drivers were cited for not having their license with them, and
- 1 driver was cited for not having their child in child restraint.
