Supervisor Barber's Coronavirus (COVID-19) Seven Hundred, Ninety-Fourth Update (Tuesday, May 10, 2022)
In a press release today, Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy reported today that there were 154 new positive cases overnight in the County, which raised the County’s COVID-19 cumulative pandemic total to 68,766 positive cases. The County’s seven-day average of new daily positive cases increased from 215.6 to 217.7 cases. The number of County residents in the hospital overnight due to COVID-19 symptoms remained at 51 patients, with now four patients in the ICU. The County’s pandemic death toll remained at 553. The County Executive also reported that the COVID-19 death since his Friday update was a woman in her 80’s
The State’s COVID-19 website reported that yesterday’s results for 91,949 tests Statewide were 6,575 or 6.3% positive, with the seven-day average remaining at 7.0%. The Capital Region had 2,558 tests of which 384 or 15.3% were positive, with the seven-day average increasing to 12.4%. The County had 679 tests of which 112 or 16.1% were positive, with the seven-day average increasing to 14.2%.
Governor Kathy Hochul, who announced yesterday that she had tested positive for COVID-19, reported today the State’s positive rate for tests yesterday (7.03%), hospitalizations (2,369, +134), new COVID-19 hospital admissions (367), ICU patients (217, +22), intubations (91, +2), and deaths (21).
The American Red Cross is holding a blood drive at Town Hall this Friday, May 13 from Noon to 6pm. Local hospitals continue to warn that the supply of blood is running low and are urging residents to help by making an appointment to donate blood.
