***Police Activity***
Within the last hour, there was an attempted motor
vehicle burglary on Oratam Drive in Peapack. The
two males involved were driving a high-end, green/
black BMW 2 door. They were wearing hoodies and
gloves. A homeowner exited her residence and
witnessed the males attempt to enter a vehicle
parked outside the residence.
Police located the vehicle shortly after being notified
of the incident. The operator of the suspect vehicle
drove at a high rate of speed in an aggressive
manner which caused officers to terminate their
attempt to apprehend the occupants so that
pedestrians would not be harmed. The vehicle
reached Rt. 206S and left the area.
During a follow-up check of the area, patrol noticed
multiple residences with vehicles parked in driveways
with garage doors open. We are asking that you
close your garage doors, even when you are present
in your home. The individuals involved in these
vehicle burglaries and thefts are entering homes to
take keys and other valuables. A reminder to remove
keys and lock your vehicles. These attempts to steal
vehicles and commit burglaries are taking place at all
hours of the day/night.
