Full Notification

An update in regards to the shelter in place that was issued earlier this morning. At 0816 CPD Dispatch received a call in regards to a motor vehicle accident that occurred on the Garden State Parkway. The occupants of the vehicle fled the Parkway on foot into Clark in an unknown direction. All officers on duty, along with Cranford PD, Winfield PD and Union County PD, responded to the area. 1 suspect was located and taken into custody by Cranford PD, the remaining 3 suspects were located and taken into custody by Clark PD. All 4 were then turned over to the custody of the NJSP. The motor vehicle the 4 suspects fled from was found to be stolen.

At no time was there a threat to any school in town. A shelter in place was issued for Mother Seton and Valley Road School out of an abundance of caution. A Special Police Officer was also dispatched to Valley Road School to provide security during the morning drop off.
