During the months of March through May 2022, detectives with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Special Crimes Unit conducted an investigation where (S) Omar Macias was believed to be involved in unlawful narcotic and firearm activities. Macias is a convicted felon and therefore prohibited from owning or possessing firearms. On May 11th, 2022, at about 7:05 AM, detectives with the Sheriff’s Special Crimes Unit along with assistance from the California National Guard Counter-Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at Macias’ residence located in the 700 block of Forest Park Blvd in Oxnard. As a result of the search warrant, detectives located and seized evidence indicative of drug sales. Additionally, two handguns, body armor, and dozens of live rounds of ammunition were located and seized. Both handguns were loaded, unregistered, and accessible to a school-aged child who was also inside the residence. Based on his criminal history, Omar Macias is prohibited from owning or possessing firearms and ammunition. He was arrested for child endangerment and various firearm/narcotics offenses, including Penal Code § 273a(a) – [Child Endangerment], Penal Code § 29800(a)(1) – [Felon in Possession of Firearm], Penal Code § 30305(a)(1) – [Felon in Possession of Ammunition], Penal Code § 27545 – [Unlawful Firearm Transfer], Health & Safety Code § 11378 – [Possession for Sales of a Controlled Substance], and Health & Safety Code § 11370.1(a) – [Possession of a Controlled Substance While Armed with Firearm]. He was booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility with a $110,000 bail pending court proceedings. |
