Following a shots fired call in Burton, Charles Hecksher arrested on trafficking cocaine and firearms charges

Thursday night, May 12, 2022, following a shots fired call in Burton, Charles Hecksher, 39, was arrested by deputies for trafficking cocaine and firearms charges. 


Case History
 
Last night, Thursday, May 12, 2022, at about 8:30 p.m., Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of shots fired near Roseida Rd. Ext. and Laurel Bay Rd. in Burton.

When deputies arrived, they met with the complainant. The complainant advised that a male subject pulled up in a vehicle, fired a gunshot into the air and drove off. No one was injured. 

While deputies were still on scene, they heard gunshots a short distance away on Laurel Bay Rd. 

Deputies investigated the gunshots and located the vehicle described by the complainant parked in front of 151 Laurel Bay Rd.

Near the vehicle, deputies observed a male subject, who matched the description provided by the complainant.

After seeing the deputies, the subject walked away and went inside the residence at 151 Laurel Bay Rd. 

A short time later, the subject, identified as 39-year-old Charles Hecksher, exited the residence and was taken into custody by deputies.

Search Warrants

Sheriff's Office investigators responded and obtained search warrants for the vehicle Hecksher fired the gunshot or gunshots from and the residence at 151 Laurel Bay Rd.

During their searches of the vehicle and the residence, investigators located and seized a trafficking weight of cocaine and a distribution weight of marijuana. In addition, on the hood of the vehicle, investigators located and seized a handgun.

Arrest and Charges

Hecksher was charged with Trafficking Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime, Use of a Firearm While Under the Influence and Pointing/Presenting a Firearm. 

Hecksher was transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center and incarcerated. 

Today, Friday, May 13, Hecksher's bond was set at $25,000 by a Beaufort County magistrate.

Also today, Hecksher posted bond and was released from the Detention Center.
