Coronavirus (COVID-19) Seven Hundred, Ninety-Ninth Update, Sunday, May 15, 2022
Albany County’s COVID-19 Dashboard reported that there were 208 new positive cases overnight in the County, which raised the County’s COVID-19 cumulative pandemic total to 69,968 positive cases. The County’s seven-day average of new daily positive cases decreased from 217.4. to 215.6. The number of County residents in the hospital overnight due to COVID-19 symptoms increased by two to 49 patients, with two patients in the ICU. The County’s pandemic death toll remained at 556.
The State’s COVID-19 website reported that yesterday’s results for 101,141 tests Statewide were 8,544 or 8.2% positive, with the seven-day average remaining at 7.1%. The Capital Region had 5,288 tests of which 529 or 9.8% were positive, with the seven-day average decreasing to 12.2%. The County had 1,517 tests of which 154 or 10.2% were positive, with the seven-day average decreasing to 13.0%.
The State’s other COVID-19 data included the State’s positive rate for tests yesterday (8.24%), hospitalizations (2,373, -24), new COVID-19 hospital admissions (426), ICU patients (235, -9), intubations (92, +1), and deaths (18).
Assemblymember Patricia A. Fahy informed her constituents and friends yesterday that she and members of her staff had tested positive for COVID-19, and that she had only mild cold symptoms. She added that the Assembly’s session was nearing its end, and that she is working remotely and isolating. We wish Pat and her staff a speedy recovery.
With Albany County remaining at CDC’s “high” level of infection, County DOH is “strongly recommending that face masks be worn in public places and private businesses.” The Town continues to recommend that employees and visitors wear facemasks in public settings at indoor Town facilities.
A reminder that the Guilderland Police Department is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, with the first event a public gathering on Saturday, June 18 from 11am to 2pm at DiCaprio Park. There will be a bounce house, gaming truck, food vendors and more family activities. Please take the time to meet the dedicated officers that we have entrusted to protect our community and join us in celebrating a half-century of public service.
