National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for this afternoon (May 16, 2022) through this evening. Watches and Warnings are expected to be issued as the day goes on. Fair Lawn Emergency Management is currently monitoring the potential for severe thunderstorms through 9:00 p.m. this evening. Total forecasted rainfall for this event is expected to be approximately a ½ inch. Damaging winds, large hail, heavy rainfall, and an isolated tornado are possible. Winds are expected to be 15 – 25 mph with gusts up to 50mph. There is a potential for flash flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas. There is also a possibility of minor urban and small stream flooding.

Please continue to monitor local weather conditions, local streams, flood prone areas, and be alert for forecast changes as this system develops and approaches the area. Please be sure to take appropriate mitigation actions to protect flood prone properties.
