Deputies Investigate a Shooting Which Left Two Juveniles Injured in Victorville

INCIDENT: Assault with a Deadly Weapon - Firearm
LOCATION: 11800 Block of Amargosa Road, Victorville
SUSPECT(S): Confidential 13-year-old Male
VICTIM(S): Confidential 14-year-old Male
SUMMARY: On Monday, May 16, 2022, at 7:40 a.m., Sheriff’s dispatch received a call regarding someone with a gunshot wound who ran inside of Walmart, in the 11800 block of Amargosa Road. Deputies from the Victorville Police Department were dispatched to the scene.
Deputies arrived and quickly determined there was not an active shooter incident. Based on witness and victim statements, deputies discovered the incident occurred in the desert area surrounding the shopping center. The two involved parties, a 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy, were in the desert together. While in the desert, the 13-year-old boy fired the gun. The bullet struck the shooter in his hand and upon exit, struck the 14-year-old boy in the lower body. Deputies located the handgun at the scene.
Both boys were transported to local hospitals where they are receiving medical treatment for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
