Update to previous release from Monday concerning the SASD and the ongoing threats investigation.
On 5/12/22, the Sheboygan Police Department began an investigation in cooperation with the Sheboygan Area School District regarding online threats made to a SASD middle school student through a social media account. Investigators quickly determined that the social media account was an imposter account and that the threats were not credible.
The initial investigation revealed the responsible person(s) resided in Arizona and Sheboygan Police detectives worked with authorities in that state to identify the parties involved. On 05/18/22, authorities in Arizona served a search warrant on the residence of a 14-year old juvenile, and seized several electronic devices. The juvenile also admitted their involvement in creating the imposter account. The investigation contines to be ongoing, however it is anticipated that the suspect will be referred to juvenile authorties in Arizona.
