The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito May 9th to May 12th, 2022.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

May 9th

Vehicle Theft – 1500 block of Elm St:
An officer reports a 15 foot Ford Econoline U-Haul truck (AZ DC3686U) was stolen between 12:30AM - 10:00AM hours today.

Shoplift – 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross):
At 2:49 pm, an officer reports two suspects stole socks and shoes worth $240 from Ross.  S-1 was described as a black male, unknown age, 5’08”, 145, wearing a camo jacket, dark pants, a green backpack and a black face mask.  S-2 was described as a black female, unknown age, 5’08”, 125, no clothing description available.  S-3 was described as a black male, unknown age, 6’, heavyset, wearing all black with a black face mask.  Suspects fled toward Fairmount.

May 10th

Arson – IFO 11481 San Pablo Ave:
At 11:42 AM, an officer reports and unidentified suspect placed an unidentified item of clothing atop a U.S. Postal Service curbside mailbox and lit the item on fire, causing minor damage to the exterior of the mailbox.

Shoplift- 11545 San Pablo Ave. (Ross)
At 8:14 pm, an officer reported an unknown suspect left the store with several comforters ($200).
 
Shoplift- 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross)
At 8:25 pm, an officer reported an unknown suspect loaded a duffle bag with items and fled the store without paying. As the suspect left the store, he damaged one of the front doors.
 
Shoplift- 11545 San Pablo Ave. (Ross)
At 9:35 pm, an officer was dispatched to a suspicious person detail. Dispatch advised the suspect was inside the store trying to attack people. While officers were enroute, Dispatch advised the suspect fled the store with a large amount of clothing. Dispatch further advised a female suspect was also trying to steal and left the store with a large amount of shoes ($200).

May 11th

Vehicle Theft – 800 block of Everett St:
An officer reports a silver Dodge Ram 1500 pickup (6B41711) was stolen between 5:30 AM and 7:00 AM on 5/11/2022.
 
May 12th

Vandalism – 11720 San Pablo Ave:
At 11:10 AM, an officer reports the arrest of a 21 year old unsheltered man after he broke windshields and caused body damage to several vehicles in the apartment complex parking lot by throwing large chunks of asphalt.  He was transported to the county jail.

Vehicle Theft – 1600 block of Liberty St:
An officer reports a 2011 white Ford F250 pickup (40221B3) was stolen from the street between 8:00AM – 3:30PM today.

Shooting Into An Occupied Vehicle-Parking lot of 10650 San Pablo Ave.(CVS)
At 9:17 PM, officers were dispatched to the parking lot for a report of a shooting into an occupied vehicle. The victim stated she was sitting in her vehicle when she heard several guns shots from a distance, then a loud noise as if her vehicle was shot at. Officers located a small hole on the victim’s vehicle. An examination of the vehicle revealed the bullet did not go through the quarter panel and most likely ricocheted off. Minutes prior to this incident, there was a report of a shooting from a neighboring city several blocks away from this location.
 
Vandalism- 11344 San Pablo Ave (Denny’s)
An officer reported the victim parked her vehicle in the parking lot at 7:00 PM. The victim returned to her vehicle around 8:50 PM, and discovered an unknown suspect smashed out the rear window of her vehicle. No entry was made into the vehicle.
