Suspect in a Carjacking in Hesperia Found Hiding in a Bathroom

LOCATION: Wal-Mart – 13401 Main Street, Hesperia
SUSPECT(S): Isiah DeLeon, 29-year-old Male Resident of Hesperia
VICTIM(S): 65-year-old Male Resident of Phelan
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, May 19, 2022, at 7:05 p.m., deputies from the Hesperia Police Department responded to a report of a carjacking at the Wal-Mart on Main Street. When deputies arrived, they found the victim laying on the asphalt in the parking lot. The victim had obvious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital.
Through investigation, deputies learned the victim was ran over by his own vehicle, a 2001 Chevy 3500 Truck, after being carjacked. With the assistance of Sheriff’s Aviation, the victim’s vehicle was located near the intersection of Joshua Street and Tenth Avenue. Deputies also learned the suspect, later identified as Isiah DeLeon, abandoned the truck and fled inside his nearby residence where he was located hiding in a bathroom.
DeLeon was arrested and booked in at the High Desert Detention Center where he remains in custody on $250,000 bail.
This investigation is ongoing, and the victim remains hospitalized as a result of his injuries.
