Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a male adult. The incident occurred on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at approximately 4:00 A.M. on the 20000 block of East Country Hollow Drive, Walnut, regarding a burglary in progress call.
When deputies arrived, they were met by the residents, a 27-year-old male Asian and a 26-year-old female Asian. Both said while inside their home, they heard footsteps. As the victims investigated the sound of footsteps, the male victim was confronted by a male suspect armed with a handgun and a shooting ensued between the suspect and the victim.
The victims were uninjured. The suspect sustained gunshot wounds to his upper torso and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
A second suspect fled the location and is currently outstanding. There is no description of the second suspect, and it is unknown if a vehicle was used during the crime.
The suspect’s handgun was located at the scene.
