Coronavirus (COVID-19) Eight Hundred Fifth Update. Monday, May 21, 2022

Albany County’s COVID-19 Dashboard reported that there were 262 new positive cases overnight in the County, which raised the County’s COVID-19 cumulative pandemic total to 71,264 positive cases.  The County’s seven-day average of new daily positive cases increased from 218.5 to 220.2 cases.  The number of County residents in the hospital overnight due to COVID-19 symptoms decreased by three to 44 patients, with two patients in the ICU.  

Of those currently hospitalized, 13.6% or six patients are 24 years of age or younger which is twice the percentage (6.0%) of persons that age who were hospitalized since the start of the pandemic.  The County reported the deaths of three County residents overnight which raised the County’s pandemic death toll to 559.   The County Executive will provide details about the three deaths in his update on Tuesday.      
 

State DOH reported that the County’s rate for one vaccine dose as of yesterday was 81.4% of the County’s total population and 91.6% of the adult population, and the County’s rate for full-vaccination was 74.4% of the total population, and for boosters was 74.3% of the eligible population.  The State’s rate for one dose was 90.5% for the total population and 95.0% of adults, and the State’s rate for full-vaccination was 77.3% for the total population, and for boosters was 55.5% of the eligible population.
 

The State’s COVID-19 website reported that yesterday’s results for 123,844 tests Statewide were 9.418 or 7.1% positive, with the seven-day average decreasing to 8.4%.  The Capital Region had 5,013 tests of which 521 or 10.9% were positive, with the seven-day average decreasing to 12.1%.  The County had 1,185 tests of which 146 or 12.1% were positive, with the seven-day average decreasing to 13.7%.

The State’s other COVID-19 data included the State’s positive rate for tests yesterday (7.14%), hospitalizations (2,584, -54), new COVID-19 hospital admissions (408), ICU patients (254, +5), intubations (93, +2), and deaths (21).
