Arizona Man Arrested During a Traffic Stop for Carrying a Loaded Firearm
DATE/TIME: May 22, 2022, approximately 8:30 a.m.
INCIDENT: PC 25850 - Carrying a loaded firearm in public
LOCATION: 1900 Block of Needles Highway
SUSPECT(S): Craig Melius, 58 Years Old, Resident of Fort Mohave, AZ.
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Sunday, May 22, 2022, at approximately 8:30 a.m., deputies from the Colorado River Station / Needles Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Needles Highway and contacted the driver, identified as Craig Melius.
During the course of the investigation, it was discovered Melius was in possession of a firearm. Deputies recovered a loaded shotgun from within the vehicle and subsequently arrested Melius for a violation of PC 25850 - Possession of a loaded firearm. Melius was transported to the Colorado River Station Jail for booking. Melius remains in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department with a bail set at $ 25,000, pending a court hearing.
