Hoboken's Annual Memorial Day Parade returns Wednesday, May 25

Residents are invited to attend Hoboken’s 122nd Annual Memorial Day Parade scheduled for Wednesday, May 25. The parade, hosted by American Legion Post 107 and the City of Hoboken, returns to Washington Street following a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The parade will assemble at 6 p.m. and step off at 6:30 p.m. marching from City Hall at 94 Washington St. north on Washington Street to the viewing stand at the Hoboken Elks Lodge at 10th Street and Washington Street.

This year marks the 122nd year of marching up Washington Street in honor of those that made the ultimate sacrifice.

Washington Street will be closed between Observer Highway and 11th Street from approximately 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. for the annual Memorial Day Parade. NJ Transit buses will be diverted to Hudson Street and Bloomfield Street at that time. Hop riders can expect delays and busses to be re-routed during that time.

Drivers should expect traffic delays in the area during the parade.

Rally for reproductive rights on Thursday, May 26

Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla and the City of Hoboken invite all members of the Hoboken community to rally for reproductive rights on Thursday, May 26, at 5 p.m. at City Hall at 94 Washington St.

The "Pro-Women, Pro-Family, Pro-Choice" rally will feature several speakers including New Jersey First Lady Tammy Murphy along with representatives from the Hudson Pride Center, Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan New Jersey, and the Hoboken Family Planning Clinic.

On Monday, May 2, journalists revealed the U. S. Supreme Court’s draft opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade. The pending decision could be issued by the Court by the end of June.

Due to the rally, Washington Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from Observer Highway to Second Street from approximately 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Temporary no parking signs have been posted. NJ Transit buses will be diverted to Hudson Street and Bloomfield Street during that time. The Blue Hop will be re-routed from Newark Street to Observer Highway before proceeding north on Bloomfield Street where it will resume its normal route.

Drivers should expect traffic delays in the area during the rally.
