Phelan Man Arrested for Theft of Chain Link Fence, Valued at over $3,000

LOCATION: 14200 Block of Ailanthus St., Phelan
SUSPECT: Robert Abraham Osborne Jr., 40 years-old, resident of Phelan
SUMMARY: On Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 4:10 p.m., deputies responded to a residence in the 14000 block of Ailanthus Street in Phelan regarding a theft of fencing.
The victim found approximately 15 rolls of 50’ fencing he purchased, stolen off his property. The value of the fencing was estimated at $3,250.00. Through the investigation, Deputy C. Lajuj identified the suspect as Robert Osborne Jr. of Phelan.
Deputy Lajuj drove to Osborne’s residence in the 14000 block of Campanula Road in Phelan. Seven rolls of the stolen chain link fence was found hidden behind trees on the property. Some of the rolls of fencing still had the store barcodes affixed to them.
Robert Osborne Jr. was arrested without incident at his residence and booked at High Desert Detention Center. He was later released on his own recognizance, with a court date set for July 28, 2022, at 8:00am.
