Father Shoots Firearm Inside Home with His Infant and Other Family Members Inside
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 22, 2022, at 7:44 p.m.
INCIDENT: PC 246.3: WILFULL DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM WITH GROSS NEGLIGENCE
LOCATION: 20500 Block of Sunset Drive, Apple Valley
SUSPECT: Thomas Genter, 21 years-old, resident of Apple Valley
SUMMARY: On Sunday, May 22, 2022, at 7:44 p.m., deputies responded to a 911 call in the 20500 block of Sunset Drive in Apple Valley. According to the caller, Thomas Genter was inside the residence shooting a firearm.
Thomas Genter became angry while upstairs in his bedroom and started shooting out his bedroom window. His fiancé, 3 day-old baby, and father were downstairs in the living room and fled once they heard the gun shots. Deputies made PA announcements telling Genter to come outside. After a few minutes, Genter exited his residence and was taken into custody without incident.
Deputy K. Williams authored a search warrant for the residence. Two handguns, one rifle and twenty fired cartridge cases were located. Genter had vandalized the inside of the residence, breaking the door off his bedroom along with other items inside the house.
Thomas Genter was booked at High Desert Detention Center. He is currently being held in lieu of $50,000.00 bail.
