INCIDENT: Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance while Armed, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, and Possession of Ammunition by a Prohibited Person
LOCATION: 12000 block of Apple Valley Road, Apple Valley
SUSPECT(S): George Michael Stinzel, 32-year-old resident of Victorville
SUMMARY: On Saturday, May 21, 2022, at approximately 3:34 p.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Police Department responded to the 12000 block of Apple Valley Road for a report of a subject slumped over the steering wheel of a parked vehicle.
Upon arrival, deputies contacted a subject in the driver's seat, identified as convicted felon George Stinzel. A records check revealed the vehicle was reported stolen from Ontario. During a search of the vehicle, deputies located a "ghost gun," an unsterilized gun assembled at home with individual parts or kits that can be sold without a background check, suspected methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.
Stinzel was arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance while armed, possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
