The Grosse Pointe Farms Water Plant currently has maintenance work being performed until Friday of this week. Please be advised of the following:
1. There is no parking of vehicles between Moross Road and the Grosse Pointe Boulevard entrance to the water plant. The area has been posted "No Parking."
2. Large semi-type collection vehicles will be in the area during the daylight hours, and traffic may be congested. Please seek alternative routes.
3. Filters/media at the plant are being cleaned/exchanged; at times, there may be dark-colored water observed coming from the collection vehicles and running down the roadway. This discharge is not harmful or hazardous.
Water Plant Information:
The City of Grosse Pointe Farms Water Department operates and maintains a 10 million gallon a day rated water filtration plant that furnishes drinking water for both the City of Grosse Pointe Farms and the City of Grosse Pointe. This includes maintaining approximately 44 miles of water main and 4,128 residential and commercial meters. The department also operates and maintains both the Kerby Road Sewage Pumping Station, with a rated maximum capacity of 358 million gallons a day, and three storm sewer overflows.
