Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Burglary Suspect

Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara requests the public’s help with identifying the below-pictured suspect, who stole a cellphone from an automobile at a grocery store parking lot on May 17, 2022.  
 
The suspect was captured on surveillance video entering the car, which the victim parked at 1:45 p.m. in the store’s parking lot, located in the 200 block of Lafayette Street. When the victim returned to the car at 2:10 p.m., his cellphone was missing. The suspect took the cellphone, then left the parking lot walking northbound on Monroe Street towards Ferry Street. 
 
Director O’Hara urges anyone with information about the suspect to call the Police Division’s  24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
