Weapons Investigation Leads to Arrest

     On Monday, May 23, 2022, at approximately 12:00 A.M., the Wildwood Police Department Uniform Patrol Division, responded to the 200 East block of Spicer Avenue, located in the City of Wildwood, in connection to a report of a disturbance.  While enroute, updated information was provided indicating that one of the individuals involved in the altercation was armed with a knife.  The incident location was described as a multi-unit motel complex, which was hosting a high school after prom event.   While on scene, uniform officers met with the motel complex manager / security guard, who provided them with a physical and clothing description of the individual armed with the weapon.       
 
     During the course of the developing on scene investigation, officers came into contact with a subject matching the description provided by the eyewitness, who was armed with the knife.  This individual was identified as Lamar Davis, 18-Year-old, currently residing in Old Bridge, New Jersey.  During the course of the investigation, Davis was identified as the individual who threatened the motel manager / security guard with the knife.  Additionally, during the contact with Davis, a large framed kitchen style knife with a six-inch blade was recovered, in close proximity to the interaction. 

     During the follow-up investigation by the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division, additional information was developed identifying Davis as the individual possessing the kitchen knife during the disturbance.  Consequently, Davis was charged with the following criminal offenses: Unlawful possession of a weapon (a crime of the fourth degree), Possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose (a crime of the third degree).     

     The criminal charges were authorized to be placed on a warrant complaint for the above listed charges and Lamar Davis was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility, in accordance with New Jersey Attorney General Bail Reform Guidelines / Directives.  The defendant was charged after a finding of probable cause and is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
