On May 12, 2022, officers of the Escondido Police Department were called to Mission Middle School for a reported stabbing victim.  The 13-year-old was reported to have been stabbed in the 700 block of East Mission Ave, about a block and a half away from the school.  The victim suffered minor cuts.  Initially, the attacker was described as a possibly high school aged male wearing all black clothing.  Detectives were able to determine that the crime was falsely reported.  The 13- year-old and a friend were “horsing around” when he was unintentionally cut by a knife the friend was carrying.  The 13-year-old then went to the school and told staff the false story, so as not to get himself or his friend in trouble.  Detectives are evaluating if any juveniles will be charged with filing a false police report or any other crimes.  The Escondido Police Department would like to thank everyone who attempted to assist in the investigation of this stabbing and who showed concern for the child involved.   
  

 

 
El 12 de mayo de 2022, oficiales del Departamento de Policía de Escondido fueron llamados a la Escuela Intermedia Mission por un reporte de apuñalamiento de la víctima. Se informó que el niño de 13 años fue apuñalado en la cuadra 700 de East Mission Ave, aproximadamente a una cuadra y media de la escuela. La víctima sufrió cortes menores. Inicialmente, el atacante fue descrito como un hombre posiblemente en edad de escuela secundaria vestido completamente de negro. Los detectives pudieron determinar que el crimen fue denunciado falsamente. El niño de 13 años y un amigo estaban “jugando” cuando fue cortado sin querer por un cuchillo que llevaba el amigo. Luego, el niño de 13 años fue a la escuela y le contó al personal la historia falsa, para no meterse en problemas ni a él ni a su amigo. Los detectives están evaluando si algún menor será acusado de presentar un informe policial falso o de cualquier otro delito.El Departamento de Policía de Escondido quisiera agradecer a todos los que intentaron ayudar en la investigación de este apuñalamiento y que mostraron preocupación por el niño involucrado.
