Indian Point Siren Test

This is a reminder that there will be a Full Volume Quarterly Siren  Test of the Indian Point sirens in Westchester, Rockland, Putnam and Orange Counties today, May 25th, at approximately 10:30AM. This sounding is only a test. The sirens will be sounded continuously at full volume for 4 minutes, followed by an activation of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) on radio and television stations to broadcast important information and instructions.  This sounding is however only a test.
 
If however there were an actual emergency at the nuclear power plant, the sirens would also be sounded continuously at full volume for 4 minutes, followed by an activation of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) on radio and television stations to broadcast important information and instructions. The sirens are not a signal to evacuate. Rather, they are intended to alert the public to tune to WHUD 100.7FM or another EAS radio or TV station for important informationThis siren sounding is ONLY A TESTNo action by the public is necessary.
