Message from Mayor

There is no greater loss for a community than its future. The heartbreaking tragedy at Robb Elementary School yesterday reminds us of how precious—irreplaceable—our families and neighbors are to us. On your behalf, I sent Uvalde, Texas Mayor Don McLaughlin a message extending our deepest sympathies, and assuring him that hundreds of miles away, the residents of Plumsted Township mourn alongside his community.

In his statement last night, Governor Murphy advised that there are no credible threats in New Jersey, but law enforcement throughout the State would have a heightened presence. As part of this effort, the Plumsted Police Department will be more visible in our community, particularly around our schools.

President Biden has directed United States flags to be flown at half-staff until sunset Saturday evening in honor of the victims. Please remember these grieving families when you pass the flags over the next few days.

As we gather together as a community for our Memorial Day Parade, Monday, May 30, would you please join me in a moment of silence at 1:00 p.m. in honor of those who have lost their lives. In their honor, our parade will begin at 1:01 p.m.

Serving our community together,

Bob Bowen
