INCIDENT: PC 487(a) Grand Theft
LOCATION: 304 W. Broadway Street, Needles, CA
SUSPECT(S): Matthew Bartlett, 42-years old, resident of Needles, CA

SUMMARY: On Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at approximately 11:52 p.m., deputies from the Colorado River Station / Needles Police Department responded to a report of a theft of a backpack at El Garces Train Depot. The backpack contained $1800 in cash, $250 headphones and a $20 MP3 player. Through investigation, deputies located video surveillance of the suspect.
On Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at approximatey 09:29 p.m., deputies contacted a male, identifed as Matthew Bartlett.. Through investigation it was determined Bartlett stole the backpack. The backpack and all its contents, except the $1800 cash, was recovered and returned to the owners.
Bartlett was arrested and transported to the Colorado River Station Jail for booking. Bartlett was later transported to High Desert Detention Center, where he remains in custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department on $50,000 bail, awaiting a court hearing.
