Suspect Arrested in Nevada for the Attempted Murder of Three Men in Chino

LOCATION: 11000 block of Monte Vista Avenue, unicorporated area of Chino
SUSPECT(S): Matthew Schourup, 45-year-old resident of Upland
VICTIM(S): Three confidential males
SUMMARY: On Wednesday, May 18, 2022, deputies were dispatched to a report of shots being fired at a vehicle in the 11000 block of Monte Vista Avenue, Chino. The victim advised he was shot at several times by an unknown male adult who drove a white van. When deputies arrived on scene, they observed several bullet holes in the victim's vehicle and a minor injury to the victim who was treated at the scene.
Through investigation, deputies learned the shooting occurred as a result of a road rage incident. Deputies located the suspect's abandoned vehicle and identified the driver as Matthew Schourup. The District Attorney's Office filed attempted murder charges and a $1,000,000 warrant was issued for Schourup's arrest.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Specialized Enforcement Division worked closely with the United States Marshals Service (USMS) and located Schourup in Las Vegas, Nevada.
On Thursday, May 26, 2022, at approximately 3:30 A.M., USMS arrested Schourup in Las Vegas and booked him into the Clark County Detention Center where he is awaiting extradition.
