Santa Rosa Police arrest leads to large seizure of Narcotics, CR#22-5852

In the beginning of May of 2022, detectives from the Santa Rosa Police Department’s Narcotics Team initiated an investigation into narcotics trafficking by a Santa Rosa resident.  It was learned through the investigation that a male subject identified as 23-year-old Carlos Andreas Ibarra was selling Fentanyl in the City of Santa Rosa and surrounding areas.  Ibarra was residing on Harvest Lane in Santa Rosa.
On Thursday, May 26, 2022, at approximately 1:30pm detectives from the SRPD Narcotic’s Team along with uniformed patrol officers, contacted Ibarra near his residence.  Ibarra was found to be in possession of 2 ounces of Fentanyl.  Detectives subsequently served a search warrant at Ibarra’s residence and the following items were located and seized as evidence.

  • 1 gallon bag containing nearly 1/2 pound of Fentanyl
  • 25 individual baggies containing 1 gram each of Fentanyl
  • $6,000 in cash
Items indicative of drug sales were also located inside the residence.  These items included packaging material, cell phones, and scales.
This is a significant amount of Fentanyl that was seized during this investigation.  One half pound of Fentanyl in its purest form, can result in over 30,000 individual doses at the street level.  One gram of Fentanyl could produce up to 100 individual doses, depending on the purity levels.  See attached photos of the 25 individual one-gram baggies and half pound chunk of Fentanyl.
Fentanyl is one of the most powerful synthetic opioids and is the primary contributor to our nation’s current opioid epidemic.  Opioid overdose deaths are among the leaders in unintentional deaths in the United States.
Ibarra was transported and booked at the Sonoma Jail for possession for sale & transportation of Fentanyl.
