On 05/28/22 at 3:00 A.M., citizens reported shots fired near the 200 block of S. Jackson St. Officers of the Janesville Police Department responded to the scene. Officers began checking the area and met with citizens reporting the incident and persons in the area.
Officers located shell casings in the area of the incident. One citizen reported their residence was struck by gunfire. Officers also located an unoccupied vehicle that had been struck. All were located in the 200 block of S. Jackson St.
There were no injured persons located at the scene. Area hospitals have been checked and no one has sought medical treatment for firearm related injuries.
Officers conducted a search warrant at an associated apartment in the 200 block of S. Jackson St. where additional evidence from this incident was located. The investigation was supported by a detective and evidence technicians.
The incident remains under investigation. There is no threat to the public at this time.
