INCIDENT: 245 (C) – Assault with a Deadly Weapon Upon a Peace Officer
LOCATION: 12400 Block of 5th Street, Yucaipa
SUSPECT(S): Cole Bierma, 39-years-old, Resident of Yucaipa
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Friday, May 27, 2022, deputies from the Yucaipa Station responded to a domestic disturbance in 12400 block of 5th Street. A witness reported the suspect, identified as Cole Bierma, was in a physical altercation with his father.
One of the responding deputies saw Bierma walking along 5th Street and got out of his patrol unit to question Bierma. Bierma immediately advanced toward the deputy with a knife in his hand, and a lethal force encounter occurred. Bierma was struck by the gunfire and taken to a hospital for treatment. The involved deputy did not sustain any injuries.
The Specialized Investigation Division responded and assumed the investigation. No further details are available for release.
