On May 29, 2022, at approximately 11:50 a.m., a community member called 911 to report two subjects fighting in front of a business in the 4900 block of Stevenson Blvd. The witness stated that one of the subjects was holding a sword and possibly had another weapon believed to be another sword or baton. Numerous officers arrived on scene within minutes and located a subject who matched the description of the suspect with the sword. After ensuring the public was not in immediate danger, officers formulated a contact plan incorporating less-lethal options.
The team of officers provided space between themselves and the suspect, and gave the suspect commands to surrender. The suspect complied with directions and was safely taken into custody. The suspect was found to be in possession of a machete, a knife, and a loaded handgun which had been reported stolen from a residential burglary.
33-year-old Vincent Wilson (homeless out of Fremont) was arrested for various weapons charges and booked at Santa Rita Jail.
