San Leandro Police Make Arrest Fatal Shooting:
On May 31st, 2022, at about 2:51 pm, The San Leandro Police Department Communications Center began to receive calls of a shooting in the area of Calgary Street and Lewelling Boulevard. Officers arrived on the scene and located an adult male lying in the middle of the street, suffering from at least one gunshot wound to his head. Police Officers, along with Emergency Medical Personnel, began life-saving measures, and the victim was transported to an area hospital for further care. Unfortunately, the victim has since succumbed to his injuries.
SLPD Detectives responded to the scene to assume this investigation.
Detectives quickly learned of a nexus between the victim and suspect in this shooting. Preliminary interviews were conducted, and it is believed an argument ensued over the ownership of a trailer.
Over the next few hours, detectives and officers had identified the suspect in this shooting, 37-year-old Ciprian Alexandru Tudor of San Leandro. At about 5:15 pm, Tudor was arrested in the City of Pleasanton. At the time of his arrest, Tudor was in possession of six rifles. It is not immediately known if any of these weapons were involved in the shooting.
This investigation is ongoing and will be presented to the Alameda County District Attorney's office on Wednesday, June 11th.
"The San Leandro Police Department offers our condolences to the victim's family and friends. We are pleased to have made a swift arrest in this case, and we hope this brings some solace to those who knew the victim," said Lieutenant Matthew Barajas.
This marks the City of San Leandro’s second homicide of the year.
