The Governor also announced that, starting today through the end of the year, the State was suspending certain taxes on motor fuel and diesel motor fuel, including the motor fuel excise tax, State sales tax, and Metropolitan Commuter Transportation District sales tax on motor fuel and diesel motor fuel. The announcement stated that this suspension of fuel taxes will provide a reduction of at least $0.16 per gallon statewide. Some counties, including Saratoga and Schenectady Counties, have added to the reduction by only collecting the county tax on the first $2 charged per gallon of gas and diesel, regardless of the actual price at the pump.
