The National Weather Service in BLACKSBURG has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Smyth County in southwestern Virginia...

* Until 400 PM EDT.

* At 305 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Quarry to Pine Crest, moving east at 30 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include... Marion... Saltville... Chilhowie... Mount Rogers National Recreation Area... Nebo... Hungry Mother State Park... and Broadford.

* AFFECTED AREAS: SMYTH, VA

Instructions:

Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds, as well as deadly cloud to ground lightning. For your safety, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Stay away from windows.
