City of Hoboken seeks community input on Sinatra Drive Redesign concepts

Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla and the City of Hoboken invite residents to take the second online survey to provide feedback on the preliminary design concepts for the Sinatra Drive Redesign Project. The proposed redesign will upgrade the waterfront boulevard to improve access for all modes of transportation, provide greater connectivity for residents, and implement Vision Zero safety improvements, including an expanded two-way bike lane.

To take the online survey, go to www.hobokennj.gov/SinatraDriveSurvey2. The survey will close on Thursday, June 16, at 8 p.m.

“We look forward to this major waterfront upgrade on Sinatra Drive, and I appreciate everyone who took the time to provide their feedback already,” said Mayor Bhalla. “As a part of our community-based approach, I ask residents to provide a second round of input, so we can create the best possible design that our City can be proud of for years to come."

The conceptual designs for the redesign of Sinatra Drive initially presented to the public at a May community meeting, are based on public feedback gathered through stakeholder meetings and an online survey. The over 1,200 respondents of the initial online survey indicated that the top five priorities for the redesign of Sinatra Drive were installing green landscaping along the corridor, ensuring safe bicycle circulation, improving the streetscape and adding street furniture, improving the safety of pedestrian crossings, and calming traffic on Sinatra Drive.

The redesign of Sinatra Drive, which will be funded in part by $1.2 million in grant funding from the New Jersey Department of Transportation, will incorporate Vision Zero strategies and green infrastructure to beautify the roadway and absorb rainwater.

The project team will use feedback gathered from the second survey and the May community meeting to create a refined concept design that will be presented to the public later this summer.
