In-person early voting for the June 7 Primary Election begins tomorrow, June 3, at 10 a.m. Registered voters can cast their ballot in person, using a voting machine, prior to Election Day.

Hoboken City Hall's first-floor conference room is the City's early voting location. The early voting location will be open Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Voters should enter City Hall on Newark Street.

Residents can also cast their ballot at their registered polling place on Tuesday, June 7. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Please note, a resident’s polling location may have changed due to the County’s redistricting.

Polling locations can be found at https://www.hobokennj.gov/polling-locations.

For questions about your polling place, contact the Hudson County Board of Elections at [email protected] or call (201) 369-3435.

Voters who have previously requested a Vote-By-Mail (VBM) ballot should have received their ballot from the Hudson County Clerk.

There are three ways voters can submit their completed VBM ballot:

  • Voters can return their VBM ballot by placing it in the nearest mailbox using the U.S. Postal Service. The ballot must be postmarked on or before June 7 and received by the Board of Elections.
  • There are also two secure ballot-drop box locations in Hoboken where voters can drop off their VBM ballot; one at Hoboken City Hall at 94 Washington St. on Newark Street, and a new drop box at the Stevens University Gateway Building at Hudson Street and Sixth Street. Voters must submit their VBM ballot in a secure drop box on or before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7.
  • Voters can also return their mail-in ballot in person to the Hudson County Board of Elections Office by 8 p.m. on, Tuesday, June 7. The Hudson County Board of Elections Office is located at Hudson County Plaza, 257 Cornelison Avenue, 4th Floor, Jersey City, NJ 07302. NOTE: VBM ballots CANNOT be returned to ANY early voting location or polling place.
For questions regarding VBM ballots, contact the Hudson County Clerk's Election Division at [email protected] or call (201) 369-3470 Option 6.

Hoboken Police Department to launch Police Pop-up engagement events

Hoboken Public Safety Director Ken Ferrante, Hoboken Police Chief Steven Aguiar, and Student Resource Officer Lieutenant Melissa Gigante announce the launch of the new Hoboken Police Pop-up series. The community engagement sessions will include fun for the whole family featuring educational outreach for adults, kid-friendly activities, and refreshments.

The first Police Pop-up session will be on Wednesday, June 8, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Harrison Garden Courtyard located at Third and Jackson Streets.

The Hoboken Police Department’s rotating neighborhood engagement sessions aim to gather resident feedback to inform policing needs within various communities.

Although the City has the Hoboken CAP’s (Community and Public Safety) program, which includes every division of the Hoboken Public Safety Department, the Police Pop-up sessions aim to be police-specific community meetings that are both fun and informational.

HPD has partnered with the Guazabara Insights Credible Messengers Program and HOPES CAP, Inc on the pop-up series. Hopes Cap, Inc, a local Community Action Agency serving Hudson, Union, and Somerset Counties, provides programs and services for children, adults, and seniors to combat poverty and become self-sufficient.

HOPES Cap, Inc will provide crafts for children, and the Guazabara Insights Credible Messengers Program will distribute pamphlets about their mentorship and life coaching programs as well as their advocacy for fairness and equity in the administration of justice.

Residents will also be asked to participate in a brief survey which, if completed, gives them the opportunity to spin the wheel for some HPD swag.

For more information on the program, email [email protected]

REMINDER: The rabies vaccination clinic is Saturday

The Hoboken Health Department will host a rabies vaccination clinic on Saturday, June 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Multi-Service Center at 124 Grand St.

Residents with dogs or cats can bring them to the clinic to receive their rabies vaccine from Animal Infirmary of Hoboken staff free of charge.

All pets must be accompanied by an adult, dogs must be leashed, and cats must be in carriers.

Residents can also submit their dog license applications and fees at the clinic. Both cash and checks made payable to the City of Hoboken will be accepted forms of payment.

For more information on dog licensing, go to https://www.hobokennj.gov/resources/dog-licenses.
