Crime Blotter for the Week of May 22 - May 28, 2022

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of May 22- 28, 2022.        
 
May 22, 2022

  • Grand Theft Auto:
2300 block of Golden Meadow Drive. On May 22, 2022, between 1 AM and 1 PM suspect(s) unknown stole the victims parked vehicle a white 2017 Honda Civic. No surveillance video available. Vehicle recovered by Covina PD, 1 in custody.

May 24, 2022
  • Burglary (Commercial):
1213 Huntington Drive (Venus Threading).  Between May 23, 2022 at 7 PM and May 24, 2022, 3:31 AM, suspect(s) unknown shattered the front door to the location and ransacked the business. Suspect(s) unknown stole money from the register. Loss was approximately $1,700 and approximately $1,500 in damages. No surveillance video. 
  • Grand Theft:
200 block of Parkrose Avenue. On May 24, 2022 at 4:41 AM, a male suspect was heard cutting the catalytic converter to the victim’s vehicle a red 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander. The suspect fled the location in a gray hatchback vehicle. Damage was approximately $1,000. No Surveillance video available.
 
May 25, 2022
  • Grand Theft:
Huntington Drive (CVS). On May 25, 2022 at 4:24 PM, suspects unknown - a female black adult and a female Hispanic adult - walked into the location and concealed miscellaneous female cosmetic items into their purses and exited the location through a rear emergency door, where they entered a newer model white Chevy Silverado that picked them up across the street. Loss was approximately $1,000.   
  • Grand Theft Auto:
Bradbury Avenue/Maynard Avenue. On May 25, 2022 at 12:50 PM, the victim picked up a female white adult in her 30s by the name “Tish”.  While driving her around she asked if she could drive. The victim exited the vehicle and the suspect slid over to the driver seat and stole the victim’s vehicle a white 2003 Cadillac Escalade. Possible surveillance video available. Vehicle recovered.

  • Locking your doors and windows to both your house and your vehicle
  • Ensuring that fencing, hedges, walls, and other boundary treatments are in a good state of repair

2.    Surveillance- Improving surveillance around homes, businesses, or public places to deter criminals.

  • Removing high hedges or items at your home that allows an offender to work unseen
  • Establishing a Neighborhood Watch on your street

3.    Neighborhood- Ensuring your community looks cared for.

  • Report broken street lights
  • Have graffiti and waste on the street removed

4.    Deterring an offender

  • Use timer switches to make your home look occupied if vacant when gone overnight
  • Contact the post office to have mail placed on hold if gone on vacation
